Emily Mitchell, 87, of Brooklyn passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. A librarian for four decades, Emily pressed a book into the hands of every child who crossed her desk — and a biscuit into the hands of every colleague.
She is survived by her son, David; her sister, Ruth; and four grandchildren. Her famous apple cake recipe will be served at the reception, as she insisted.

Memorial Service: Sunday, 3:00 PM, Willowmere Chapel
Burial: Private family graveside, Monday morning
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brooklyn Public Library children's program.
